The Comeback King "Mitch Biner" WINS the N.S.W Quarter Midget Title Event |
As predicted Mitch Biner did not disappoint at Tamworth taking out not only all 3 heat races to secure pole possy for the feature race, but also win the feature race and the N.S.W Title Event.
A Big congrats to Mitch who undoubtably deserved the undisputed win on the night with Mitch's Father Garry Biner taking out 2nd place, and Peter Priest 3rd and final podium position.

Race Calender mistake fixed, Points will be awarded |
It has been realised that the N.S.W Title to be contested on the 12 of April was listed down on the web site race Calender page as a "NON-POINTS" round, however this was a mistake, points will be awarded to all drivers as per normal just like a normal round meeting. I wish to appologise to any member for any inconvenience due to this, but the problem has now been rectified. |
The Newly Crowned Aus#1 Has A Troublesome Night, While The Comeback King, Takes The Win |
Mitch Biner is no Stranger to Quarter Midgets, in fact no stranger to speedway at all, he's done just about all Speedway divisions thrown at him, but always ends up landing back in the good "ol" Quarter Midgets.
The round 9 event this weekend held at Cullen Bullen Speedway saw Mitch dominate the night with a win, two seconds in the heats and taking the all important win in the Feature race event with Peter Priest taking out second position in the Feature hot on the heals of Mitch, Darren Salmon the newly crowned Australia #1 taking out 3rd place in the Feature race after a disappointing run in the heat races.
With some of the other Regulars missing in action at Rnd 9, Peter Priest has now slipped into first place on the Pointscore Championship with Darren Salmon also moving up into 2nd position ahead of Troy Dunn and ex-Aus#1 Mark Garey. |
3 Race Demonstration For Quarters at the Newcastle Show |
It has been officially announced that the N.S.W Quarter Midgets will get a 3 Race Demo Run at the Newcastle showground track at the 2008 Show on the Sunday 13th of April. This is a fantastic opportunity that you should not miss out on with your Quarter Midget, and an opportunity to get very much needed exposure for our club to gain more interest and get more members and cars involved in our great form of cheap , fun speedway racing. |
Tamworth Speedway cans 22nd of Match Meeting |
Tamworth Speedway has Officially Canned their 22nd of March Meeting due to a lack of support by a majority of race classes due to the Easter long weekend break. |
Lack of Driver Support & Nominations Cans Tammworth Meetings |
Rnd's 8 & 9 have been officially canned from the race calender due to a lack of driver nominations or commitment of enough drivers to attend each meeting, with only 2-3 drivers putting there hand up to commit to attending both events and with Tamworth Speedway not excepting any less than 6 car feilds we were always going to struggle.
The next Round event will now be Rnd #10 held at Cullen Bullen on the 29th of March. |
A Wombat on the road as everyone goes hunting for points at Tamworth Speedway Rnd 5 |
Rnd 5 of the season was a cracker with the biggest turnout of Quarter Midgets to have graced the Tamworth track with 10 cars in all.
There was some early casualties of the usual suspects and towards the end of the night the track went off massively and became a big hand full for the little cars, plus with the event running late into the night due to weather problems at the track the night before the race event, tension was running high within the ranks.
But come the feature race the bullcrap stopped when the green flag dropped, and it was the new comer
Troy "WOMBAT" Dunn that stole the show and 1st place to take out his first feature race, with Jeremy Evans 2nd and Darren Salmon 3rd. |
Big Turnout Expected for Tamworth event Rnd 5 of The 2007/2008 Season Calender |
Rnd 5 will be held on the 8 of December 2007 as we head to the Country Music Festival Town Of Tamworth, to contest a round that usually has a small field of Quarters turn up for the event....NOT this time around, so far with 11 cars nominated for the Rnd 5 event , this will be the biggest line up of Quarter Midgets to grace the Country Tamworth Clay Track to date, making sure the event will be one to remember.
Racing starts at 4pm sharp, so be sure to get there early, cya at the track. |
Peter Priest Takes the Pointscore Lead as Darren Salmon claims the A-Main Victory for Rnd 4 |
Rnd 4 was a cracker once again at the popular venue of Cullen Bullen Speedway, the rain came down early and for a while it looked certain the event would be canned, but someone must of said a prayer somewhere as when it came to racing time the clouds went, the sun came out, and it was racing time.
With a few new comers to start at the rear all night and the current pointscore leader missing in action and 2nd place in the pointscore promoted to the Micro Sprint division, it was time for the rest to make up the gap, and that they did.
Darren Salmon did a fantastic job up the pointy end all night and jagging a heat race win and the feature race win to get some very much needed points.
Peter Priest also had a very productive night being second overall on the night with also a heat win and 2nd place in the feature race event, but the biggest outcome for Peter was leap frogging Mark Garey in the 2007/2008 season pointscore to be now 17 points clear in 1st place.
Other outstands were Nathan Turner jagging a heat race win and Brett Hall getting a 3rd Place in the 3rd heat race in his first ever race event contested. "Congrats to all the guys on a top nights racing" |
2 New Driver's to the Quarter Midgets for Cullen Bullen Rnd 4 |
Cullen Bullen Rnd 4 will see a couple of new drivers to the feild. With a feild of 9 cars nominated for the round we will see a new upcoming star in the form of the Ugliest, Hairy mammouth that would scare to death even the hardest grown man. Yes he can be confused as the "SASQUATCH" himself...."BIGFOOT"....we are talking about Brett "CRUZ" Hall as pictured below
|
SASQUATCH or BIGFOOT
other wise known as Brett " CRUZ" Hall |
It will be Cruz's "Brett Hall" debut in the #54 Tricorp Security Quarter Midget after the promotion of Brett Finucane into the Micro Sprint Series also now driving the #54 Tricorp sponsored Micro Sprint.
While Cruz will have to start rear of field for this coming round and the next 2, he will be one to watch coming through the field of the talented drivers in the 2007/2008 Quarter Midget Ranks.
Also Debuting in his first Quarter Midget race this coming weekend at Cullen Bullen will be Wayne Griffiths in the Terry Bennett Quarter Midget.
Wayne is described as a young fellow with heaps of talent and potential that is out for some fun racing.
Well there is no better place than the Quarter Midgets when it comes to fun.
|
Another race round added to the 2007/2008 race calender season |
Well it is official, 13 rounds will now be contested in the 2007/2008 N.S.W Quarter Midget race calender season with the added 5th round to be held on Saturday 8th of December at Tamworth Speedway. |
Rnd 3 , Will see us go way, way down south...To Moruya @ Surfair Speedway 10th Nov 2007 |
10th of November 2007 is the date, and you are wanted by the N.S.W Quarter Midget Association to attend the 3rd Rnd Meeting at Surfair Speedway, it is sure to be a cracker.
A top notch facility located a ways down south "but not as far as Mexico" where the track is wide as it is long and the quarter midgets can run 1, 2 or 3 race lines around the track to make the 3rd round number 1 to attend.
The word also is if we make a good impression we will be invited back on the 29th of December race round "making it our Christams Cup Event"...but if we Bum out on the 10th it could be our first & last race there.
So come on guys, support your club, Nominate & turn up to the 3rd Rnd at Surfair Speedway Moruya on the 10th of Nov 2007.
